Group Instruction
WAFA offers a variety of group instruction opportunities including:
■The Westland Flute Choir -- Performance repertoire is selected
from the Medieval through Classical eras, with the strongest emphasis on
Early Music. In addition to having recorded two CDs, the choir
performs regularly at a number of regional festivals, typically in period
costume. Many pieces in the group's repertoire have been composed by
choir members. For intermediate to advanced players; audition
required.
■String Ensemble -- This string ensemble ranges in levels from
beginner to advanced. There is music for each level, and at the
holidays, the levels are combined for a seasonal recital. Advanced students
learn various string quartets as well as ensemble music composed for small
group participation.
■Tone Chime Choir -- Similar to English Hand Bells, these tone
chimes are aluminum bars with clappers. They are lightweight and easy
to use. We have a two octave set which utilizes 8-10 ringers.
Each ringer is assigned two notes, and they play only when their note occurs
in the score. This is a fun ensemble and a beautiful experience in
which to start sharing music!
