Russian Nesting Dolls |
|
| |
Russian Nesting Dolls are sometimes called "Matryoshka" dolls. The word
refers to a peasant mother of a large family. Each smaller doll inside
represents a different member of the family. We will reflect on all the
possible meanings of "family," then, using the pinch pot technique, we
will create our own family of nesting figures out of clay. In the second
part of the class we will paint the figures after the clay has dried.
This very personal piece of artwork would make a great gift for a loved
one or simply a treasured family keepsake. |
